HOWDY Y’ALL
I’ve been asked to write a “Spotlight” Blog about me. Having been born in 1945, I’m not real sure what a blog is, but here goes. I was born at Tucson Medical Center and attended elementary through high school in Tucson. I was on the track team at Rincon High and ran both high and low hurdles. I came in FIRST once when my friend and fellow hurdler, Bob, was ill. In the late 50’s – early 60’s I played guitar and organ for a little rock ‘n roll band called The Monarchs. I received my Masters in Audiology from the University of Arizona and my Doctor of Audiology from Arizona School of Health Sciences in Mesa. I served in the US Navy as a Radioman from 1966-70 stationed in Hawaii, South Korea and aboard the USS Neptune. I married my wonderful wife in 1971 and we have 2 adult children and 2 grandsons, ages are 7 years and 2 months. We are also parents of two rescue dogs. I consider myself one of the luckiest guys on earth to have such a wonderful family.
My first job after graduating in 1975 was at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. I was there for 4 years and ended up as the Coordinator of Audiology. We then moved to Fort Worth, Texas and for the next 30 years I worked with an Ear, Nose and Throat Physician and was Director of Cobb Audiology and Hearing Aid Center – or – “The Best Little Hear House in Texas”. During our time in Texas we were RV’ers and took our kids to 32 states and most of the state parks in Texas and tubed many of Texas’ rivers. What great memories.
As we started to “age” the humidity in Texas was getting to us and we moved back home to our beautiful desert in 2009 and I started working with my “old” college friend, Dr. Janis Gasch. Since working here I have been fortunate enough to volunteer at the St Andrew’s Children’s Clinic in Nogales, Arizona, which has been a very rewarding experience. Working with those kids, cleaning and repairing their hearing aids means a lot to me and to them. I’m looking forward to our 4th Annual Donation Drive for the Clinic on Saturday, November 1st, 2014…our entire office will have the pleasure of collecting donated clothing and blankets to provide for the kids and their parents.
Well, I hope y’all have as much fun reading my first blog as much as I did writing it. Oh, don’t forget, you have until December 3, 2014 to purchase tickets and enter the raffle for a pair of top of the line digital hearing aids. All the proceeds will go to St. Andrew’s Children’s Clinic. Tickets are available at all 3 of our offices.
